MAGNIFICAT

2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War and in the spirit of Remembrance, Beacon Community Choir’s concert reflects the joy, relief and hope of a better world experienced by all at that time.
John Rutter’s exuberant and melodious “Magnificat” perfectly captures these emotions and the text itself is a hymn of praise for blessings received.
But no celebration of peace can be whole without acknowledging the price of war. This is expressed in extracts from Vaughan Williams’ “Donna Nobis Pacem” and Karl Jenkins’ “The Armed Man”, and the programme as a whole includes contemporary writings by those at the front, and those left at home.
Join us for a very special evening.
